Archytas to sponsor Penarth Yacht Club!

Here at Archytas, our local community is important to us, which is why when we heard about Penarth Yacht Club’s Raise the Lift Appeal, we were really keen to get involved.

The Penarth Yacht Club has made a substantial impact on our community with a long history dating back to 1880, initially known as the Penarth Boat Club but after a name change in 1895 the club has been known as the Penarth Yacht Club ever since. The clubhouse is a Grade || listed building which was built in three main stages over the late 1800s.

The club held it’s first event back in 1880 with a day of Amateur Aquatic Sports, a programme consisting of pleasure boat sailing, rowing, sculling, canoeing, swimming and even a duck hunt! The Penarth Yacht Club has an active social calendar as well as continuing to offer the chance to compete in rowing and boating races as well as attendance at regattas in both Wales and England. To this day, the club has an active rowing training programme and regularly enters regattas for both men’s and women’s events! In fact, club members have had a lot of success at both a national and international level across a variety of experience level and age. In particular, the club has a very active dinghy-racing programme, plus the Enterprise class dinghy fleet is one of the largest

in the country. The clubhouse is a lovely example of 19th Century architecture, however it is actually due to the age of the building and accessibility that their Raise the Lift Appeal came to our attention. Quite a few of the club’s elder members have been participating and contributing to the club for a number of years, however accessibility has become more of a challenge due to the steepness and number of steps to access the club. Due to the building being so old and such an integral part of the Penarth horizon, a lot of thought had to go into how to make the clubhouse more accessible to all of the club’s members. The Penarth Yacht Club committee came to the conclusion that a lift installed by the highly recommended Stiltz was the best solution, Stiltz have been featured widely in national media from the Financial Times to Buzzfeed!

Stiltz offer a fantastic lift solution that is non-intrusive and has a very quick installation time. The lift will also be able to carry a wheelchair, meaning that accessibility to the clubhouse is about to become a lot easier. We really admire the lengths and dedication that the Penarth Yacht Club are going to to ensure the best experience for their members and it reflects our values here at Archytas Strategic Planning as our clients are at the heart of everything we do.

The club will be raising donations to help with the costs of the installation of the lift as well as hosting a 24-hour extravaganza event to raise funds. We have made a donation to the cause in addition to supporting the event, we have joined forces with another local business Masons Self Storage who have also made a donation to the Raise the Lift Appeal as well as generously donating the time and resources of their creative marketing & communications agency, ONCREE! We’re confident that if we all work together we can support the Penarth Yacht Club in raising the funds they need to install the lift and ensure that their clubhouse is accessible to their elder members as well as those who may have mobility impairments or are wheelchair bound.

Masons Self Storage have a state-of-the-art facility just five miles from Penarth, offering a range of flexible storage options for home and businesses. In March they will be launching a new Business Zone which is a perfect solution for business owners who have been juggling the need to store additional stock with a workspace.

We look forward to working with Masons Self Storage in supporting the Penarth Yacht Club to reach their fundraising Raise the Lift goals and to continue to ensure their members are able to participate in their amazing range of activities.
